My sister's baby shower

Today was my sister's baby shower.
It was a lovely day filled with wonderful friends and food.
My sister received lots of beautiful baby gifts for my
niece-on-the-way

She received some beautiful hand made items from some loved relatives

and a cross stitch baby announcement made by our mother (to be completed with birth-date, time, weight etc after she has arrived)  She also received a beautiful bassinet, clothing. A neat wrap thing that will

help carry the baby. And a nursing cover up that my mother in law made. And LOTS of other useful stuff.

I am known as the "cake lady" around our close friends & family therefore I made the cakes, which were incredibly popular!!

My mom prepared the Majority of the food & I am confident that nobody went home hungry :)
And my sister's friend Jayn provided the decorations. It was lovely :)

Furry Play

Today was a nice day. After the kids got out of school we went to my sister in law's house to keep an eye on my nephews so she could go take a test. and afterwards we all had dinner together, and just hung out. It was really nice.
Once we got home my kids went straight to bed and my furry babies went a little crazy. They had been in jail, (lock down, caged up) while we were gone. (They are both still puppies & I want to keep a few nice things in my house) They went outside and ran around for a little while and then tried to wrestle in the house. Ginny brought me the tug rope and tried to get me to play with her, and when Wimbley started butting in, I gave him the other end of the rope. I love it when 2 dogs play tug of war!

Eventually Wimbley won, as he is more dominant a dog than Ginny & she gave him the rope.

I need to get the hang of this...

OK....So I still haven't quite gotten the hang of this blogging thing. Its been 1 day short of a week since my last post. OOPS!!! I WILL figure this out! Help me out folks! Holler at me on my facebook page if I miss a few days & you're antsy to see what I've been up to! :) I'll appreciate the help!

So today is Wednesday. That means I spent the day while my kiddos were in school, playing with my 2 nephews. Kale is 3 and Seth is 10 months old...He'll be 1 in April. Seth has been having a difficult time when he's away from mom, who will be going on a trip to Europe in May, leaving the boys here while she's gone. But have no fear mom! Each week Seth gets a little more used to being here & a little less freaked out if I leave the room, so all is good!

All day I was working on laundry. and after school, I told the kids to put their laundry away because it was cluttering up my kitchen counters. Sam proceeded to tell me "I hate laundry! I hate putting it away. I'm not going to do it" all the while I'm threatening groundation if he does not put it away. (I am in the laundry room at the time, he is in the kitchen talking to me) When I come out of the laundry room, Sam's laundry has disappeared & he's standing there still telling me he's not going to do it! when I say, "your laundry disappeared!" He says "Yeah! its disappeared INTO MY DRAWERS HAHA!!" The little smart ass actually got me!!!!

And now, my kids are at their Martial Arts instructional classes with daddy (who also has a class tonight) leaving me ALL BY MY LITTLE LONESOME :) which means I can watch Bones re-runs without having to pause/rewind to hear whats happening and bake myself a cake without being harassed about what kind it is, when it'll be done etc.

Sweet Potato Spice Cake Before Baking

So I just put my cake into the oven, I believe I may start using my Grandma's practice of making 2 round cakes, and freezing one for later. Lately every cake I bake is 2 layers & 1/2 gets thrown away.

LOVELY EVENING!!!

Sparring Night

Tonight is Thursday, which means the kids will be going to sparring at their martial arts studio. Which also means that mom gets some additional quiet time while they are gone! Which I really need for some reason today!
at some of their sparring class I took some pictures. They are very amusing!

Sam has only been to sparring since the beginning of the year & he's a natural! He seems to have a nack for tactics, he looks for alternate ways to attack.

Allie, is still a white belt, but holds her own against the brown belts in her age level.

Last week near the end of sparring a kids vs adults mele was called & the kids all went after one person. Their sense's dad. It was very amusing!

Please excuse the quality of these photos, they were taken with my blackberry shortly before it died.
